The 15 kilometer long mountain-ridge of the Sierra de la Contraviesa is situated in the South of Spain, between the snow covered peaks of Sierra Nevada and the Mediterranean Sea. With an average height of 1.250 meters above sea level it belongs to the highest viticultural areas in Europe. In this unique landscape with soils of slate, silicates and quartzite (this mixture is locally named “Tosca”) Bodega Los Barrancos posesses 20 acres (8 hectares) of vineyards.
