Tempranillo (80 %), Cabernet Sauvignon (17 %) and Merlot (3 %) are planted in the four vineyards of the winery “Cerro de la Retama”, “Finca Cuatro Hermanas”, “Los Felipes” and “La Ventilla”. Apart from the latter bush wines, they grow in straight rows of 3 m distance to each other and vines spaced one meter apart. They are trained on espalier in the classical bilateral cordon fashion. Beacuse of the relative lack of water, the soil between the rows is kept free of weed. As fertilizers only organic material from local agriculture is used.
In 2008 we have obtained from SOHISCERT the approval as ecological winegrowers. This will appear from that year onwards on the back label.
